Soft materials for combat vehicles and tracked vehicles
Defence
Even combat vehicles and tracked carriers require soft materials. We produce both insulation and seat upholstery for the CV90 combat vehicle and the BvS10 tracked carrier. This is an ongoing assignment that TEKONF has carried out for many years.
Using pattern drawings, we precision-cut insulation in our cutting machine here on Frösön, ensuring the right material for an exact fit. We base our work on the material data sheets from the supplier, often BAE Systems Hägglunds, and conduct on-site quality assurance.
Insulation – protection against both heat and cold
Insulation in combat vehicles must meet tough requirements, including withstanding both extremely low and high temperatures. The exact properties of the insulation depend on its placement within the vehicle. We work with several types of insulation, from engine compartments to interior sections of the vehicles.
Durable and robust seat upholstery
A seat in a combat vehicle is subjected to extreme conditions, placing very high demands on all components of the upholstery. Some of the key requirements we work with include:
- High durability and long lifespan
- Easy to clean and maintain
- Ergonomics and comfort
Material selection is crucial and literally vital in the development of military products. Since 2023, TEKONF has been working with both hard and soft components to meet the needs of our clients.
Three materials we frequently use for insulation and upholstery:
- Nomatec
- Antipon
- Polyurethane foam
