[PRESSRELEASE 3/10 - 2024]
In December last year, the Frösö-based company TEKONF secured its largest procurement contract to date, being selected as a supplier for the Swedish Armed Forces’ new carrying bags: Bärsäck 12. Production began in March, and by August, all 8,000 bags had been delivered in full to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV).
The new order for Bärsäck 12 was twice the size of TEKONF’s previous largest deliveries and came with an extremely tight schedule. This presented many new challenges and opportunities for the company.
– The scale of the order required us to think bigger. We worked with multiple subcontractors to source all the necessary raw materials of the right quality – and as quickly as the order required. Thanks to excellent collaboration with our partners and suppliers, we successfully managed all partial deliveries and were able to complete the final delivery on schedule, says Björn Rimmö, Sales Manager at TEKONF and lead project manager for the delivery.
TEKONF has extensive experience in producing military equipment for the defence sector, ranging from protective covers and weapon cases to bags and insulation materials. The company supplies both directly to the Swedish Armed Forces and to major defence contractors such as SAAB and BAE Systems Hägglunds.
– We are proud of the trust placed in us by FMV and grateful for the commitment of everyone involved in the procurement and delivery process! This achievement demonstrates not only our ability to provide high-quality products with technical expertise but also our capacity to deliver on large-scale orders. We look forward to participating in more major procurement projects in the future, says Göran Wärdell, CEO of TEKONF.
At TEKONF, the outlook for the future is positive, and the company is expanding to meet increasing demand. In recent months, it has hired new designers and product developers at its industrial facility in Frösö Park.
– It is a significant milestone for us to grow both locally and globally at the same time. Our goal is to continue providing products that people can rely on, whether it be bags, fall protection mattresses, or ballistic vests. We aim to be a trusted company that delivers according to our customers’ high standards.
Based in Frösön, Jämtland, TEKONF specialises in cutting, stamping, and assembling soft materials – a process known as technical confection. The company operates within four key sectors: industry, healthcare, defence, and retail products. TEKONF currently employs around 35 staff and is projected to achieve a turnover of approximately 60 million SEK in 2024, marking a 50% increase compared to the previous year.
